ABRAHAM’S
PROMISED SON
(Genesis
22)
The
Hebrew Scriptures have types and shadows of
Jesus the Messiah inside,
But
Jews say Jesus is not the Messiah;
they say the Christians have lied.
While
under their noses is the story of Isaac,
Abraham’s son of promise,
But
they don’t see Jesus in Isaac, saying
"We are not proud he is from us!”
The
story of Abraham paints a picture of the Father
and His only Son.
They
journey three days to the land of Moriah
to offer his beloved one.
The
wood on the back of Isaac foreshadows
the cross Jesus bore up the hill.
The
boy says, “Where is the lamb?”
then lies
on the altar, bound and still.
The
Angel says “Stop!” as Abraham starts
to plunge the knife in his son.
Then
Abraham lifts his eyes – the sacrifice
caught in the thicket had lunged.
The
thorns on the head of the ram foreshadow
the thorns on the head of the Lamb.
Isaac
escapes death by a substitute,
redeemed by the Great I Am!
And
God says, “Here in the Mount of the Lord
will be seen what I will provide.
You
did not withhold your only son –
your blessings will always abide.
In
your Seed, all the nations of earth will be blessed,
because you obeyed my
voice.
My
Son will come, the Jewish Messiah,
and heaven and earth will rejoice!
